Dentures in Munfordville

Dentures in Munfordville should do more than fill a gap. They should let you eat the food you like, speak without thinking about it, and smile in a photograph without checking the mirror first. That is the standard we work toward at Bluegrass Oral Health Center–Munfordville.

Our doctors fit full dentures, partial dentures, and implant-supported options, and we spend the time it takes to get the bite and the shade right rather than handing you an appliance and hoping you adjust.

Types of Dentures We Provide

There is no single right answer. The best option depends on how many teeth remain, the health of the supporting bone, and what you want day to day.

  • Full dentures replace an entire upper or lower arch
  • Partial dentures fill in gaps while your remaining natural teeth stay in place
  • Immediate dentures are placed the same day teeth are removed so you are never without them
  • Implant-supported dentures snap onto implants for dramatically better stability

We walk through the trade-offs of each — cost, timeline, maintenance, and how each will feel — before you commit to a plan.

The Fitting Process

The process begins with an exam and impressions or a digital scan of your mouth. From there we record how your jaws come together, select a tooth shade and shape that suits your face, and have a try-in appointment where you can see the result before it is finalized.

That try-in matters. It is far easier to adjust the length of a tooth or the fullness of the lip at that stage than after the denture is processed, and it is the step rushed practices tend to skip.

Living With New Dentures

The first two weeks are an adjustment. Speech takes a few days to normalize, and most people start with softer foods cut into smaller pieces before working back to a full diet. Minor sore spots are common early on, and a quick adjustment visit fixes them — that is expected, not a sign something went wrong.

We schedule follow-ups specifically to catch and correct those spots, and there is no charge to have your new denture adjusted during that settling-in period.

Implant-Supported Dentures

If a lower denture that shifts while you eat has been the frustration, implants change the equation. Two to four implants can anchor a lower denture so it stays put through a meal, and they also slow the bone loss that gradually changes the shape of the jaw after teeth are lost.

Our practice places implants in Munfordville and uses CBCT imaging to plan the position of each one, so the final denture is designed from the start rather than adapted afterward.

Caring for Your Dentures

Dentures need daily cleaning with a soft brush and a non-abrasive cleaner — regular toothpaste is too harsh and leaves microscopic scratches that hold stain. Leave them out overnight in water or a soaking solution so the tissue underneath gets a rest.

Keep your regular exams even if every tooth is replaced. We check the fit, look at the tissue underneath, and screen for oral cancer. Jaws change shape over the years, so a reline every few years keeps a denture fitting the way it did on delivery day.
