Skills such as compression depth and rate cannot be learned by watching. Our courses are built around manikin practice with instructor feedback, so participants physically feel what adequate compressions demand — considerably more effort than most people expect.
Groups stay small enough that everyone gets genuine repetitions and real coaching instead of standing in line.

No medical background is required. The course is designed to be learnable by anyone.
Using an AED Without Hesitating
Automated external defibrillators are now mounted in schools, churches, gyms, and workplaces across Logan County, and they are designed so that an untrained person can use them. The device analyzes the rhythm itself and will not deliver a shock unless one is needed. The most common failure is not misuse — it is that nobody reaches for it.
In class you open a training unit, place the pads, follow the voice prompts, and practice the handoff between compressions and shock delivery. Ten minutes of hands-on practice is what turns a wall cabinet into something you would actually open in an emergency.
What Certification Involves
Most courses run a few hours and combine a short instructional portion with hands-on skills practice and a skills check. Participants who complete the course receive a certification card, which is typically valid for two years before a renewal course is required. Employers, licensing boards, and volunteer organizations usually specify which level of certification they need, so bring that requirement with you when you register.
We also encourage renewal on schedule rather than letting a card lapse. Skills decay measurably within months, and compression depth and rate are the first things to slip. A refresher every two years is the minimum; practicing the sequence in your head more often than that is free and worth doing.
